Pachama is building the marketplace for forest carbon credits to standardize verification, efficiently connecting supply and demand. They combine satellite imagery and deep learning to provide automated and trustworthy monitoring without large upfront costs to landowners. This lowers the barriers to new forest offsets while providing a higher-fidelity product for offsetters.

POSITIVE NOTES
Regenera América, a project born from the partnership between Pachama and Mercado Libre, has secured an additional $23.7M to continue its operation. Their mission extends beyond carbon sequestration; it aims to safeguard biodiversity, bolster ecosystem services, and generate green jobs through a community-centric approach to conservation and reforestation. Now in its third year, the initiative will back six projects in Mexico and Brazil, combining new efforts with the expansion of existing ones. To date, Regenera América's investments are set to restore or conserve 15,000 hectares of native forest, roughly equivalent to 14 million trees, expected to capture 1.1 million tons of CO2e and prevent over 3 million tons of CO2e emissions.
Pachama has also updated its Project Evaluation Criteria, improving the selection of impactful projects and giving businesses essential insights into performance and risk for better carbon investment decisions. It aims for more precise project quality assessment, starting with avoided deforestation projects in Brazil and expanding to more regions and project types. These new features greatly benefit smaller developers who have limited resources for fieldwork.
