POSITIVE NOTES
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) represents a historic commitment by the US government to combat climate change and reduce CO2 emissions by 40%, allocating $369 billion. This comprehensive act includes incentives and funding for several initiatives, such as the installation of heat pumps, rooftop solar, energy efficiency retrofits, and others, as part of a plan to foster building decarbonization.
Despite the significant increase in solar panels in the US, only 1% are installed on rental properties. This discrepancy arises from the challenge rental owners face in benefiting from solar energy and other building decarbonization retrofits, given that tenants typically pay the energy bill. With this challenge in mind, Fram Energy is creating a business model that aligns economic incentives to boost decarbonization in multi-family residential properties. By evaluating and combining a suite of energy upgrade options tailored to each property's unique needs - from solar panels to HVAC systems - Fram simplifies the retrofitting process. Thus, they excel in navigating the complexities of the rental real estate market, minimizing risks for property owners, ensuring seamless integration of energy-efficient solutions, and addressing the issue of split incentives.
